Happy Valentine’s Day! I wanted to be anything but cliche` for this V-day! Here is my OOTD for my date night with a bonus alternative option!
First, is a self-drafted bodycon midi dress with an asymmetrical neckline. I used a beautiful multicolored scuba knit from the Nicole Miller Fall 2016 Collections for Joann’s for the front and a solid black scuba knit for the back. The toughest part about putting this together was aligning the fabric patterns correctly & evenly down the front. There were so many different patterns to choose to be the focus of the dress. I paired it with a pair of black heels I’ve had for a few years.
I bought 3 yards of the kaleidoscopic fabric so after the dress I was able to make a high-waist, knee-length skirt, also with a solid black back. I actually made the skirt using just the bottom half of the self-drafted dress pattern. I also decided to use a different pattern scheme than the dress, so it doesn’t even look like it was cut from the same fabric. I paired this with an old pair of bright yellow heels and a black, loose, boat neck top I made using and conducted a pattern review on the Cynthia Rowley Pattern 1366.
And I still have more of that colorful Nicole Miller scuba knit left so I’m definitely going to stash it for another day!
How about you? Were you timeless & classic with red and pink on V-day or were you bold & daring with a more colorful palette? Let me know in the comments!
Bonus question: Your honest opinion, who wore it best?!
